Crossing England in a Punt: River of Dreams - River Trent.

Crossing England in a Punt: River of Dreams - River Trent.
On BBC 4 last night was a very interesting programme in which Tom Fort followed the entire course of the River Trent from its source to its journey to the sea. Along the route he stopped at Burton, Willington, Swarkestone, Shardlow etc.

From the Staffordshire hills to the Humber estuary, spirited explorer Tom Fort embarks on a 170-mile journey down Britain's third longest river, the Trent. Beginning on foot, he soon transfers to his own custom-built punt, the Trent Otter, and rows many miles downstream. Along the way he encounters the power stations that generate much of the nation's electricity, veterans of the catastrophic floods of 1947, the 19th-century brewers of Burton and a Bronze Age boatman who once made a life along the river.

If you missed this programme, don't worry as its on your on demand section if you are on Cable TV.
Or you have 6 days left to watch it on the iPlayer here.

Shardlow and Risley Car Boot Sale driving videos, enjoy realtime drives through Derbyshire with me.

Please comment on the videos if you enjoy the views and feel free to use my videos on Facebook, Twitter etc. Pass them onto anyone that may like to watch them.

Here are my two latest driving videos. Both filmed in real-time for a change rather than speeded up, giving you more chance to take in the views of Derby and Derbyshire. If you want to skip forward then just use the sliders, but why would you when there is plenty to look at?

I present to you 38 minutes of real driving footage, the first video starts on Cathedral road, Derby and ends at Shardlow Car Boot sale. Along the way we will pass through the centre of Derby by the River lights Hotels and bus station complex and past the new frontage to Derby Railway station, along London Road through Wilmorton, Crewton and Alvaston and onto Shardlow and the car boot sale its self on Shardlow Village Hall playing field.
In my second driving video we leave Shardlow car boot and head off to Risley car boot sale via Elvaston and ending in the car park at Treetops Hospice. I could have goto Risley via the M1 but this route is more interesting to look at.
Both videos were filmed on Bank holiday Monday 6th May 2013.

I have used no less six great Trance tracks in my two videos, tracks by Terra Nation, Trance Crafter and Kazmo.

There is plenty to see in my journeys as these are real-time, So play it fullscreen at 720/1080p Sit back and relax, crank up the speakers and enjoy a drive with me around Derbyshire.

Andy's Driving videos around Derby, Derbyshire, UK :
Are you an ex-pat of Derby, feeling homesick? Or perhaps you just want a clear way of giving someone directions to a location in Derby or just want to show people your Derby Street. Well in this video and the many others I have made, you will be able to take a virtual drive around the city of Derby's streets as though you were in the driving seat. I use a dash-mounted camera, Traffic lights and heavy traffic have been edited out.

Best watched at 720p/1080p full Screen (if your system/net connection is up to it).

Shardlow Car boot sale used to take place on the land at the back of the former Grove Hospital but this was demolished in 2007, since then the car boot has taken place on Shardlow Village Hall field.

Show your support for the 131st Alvaston Baptist Scout Group by coming to this nice little car boot sale. The location is very nice, Once you have been to the car boot sale why not have a look around the village of Shardlow. Some nice walks along the Trent and Mersey canal here and some great pubs too.

Video : Shardlow and Sawley, Derbyshire by car.

I've just uploaded my latest driving video.
This one starts in the village of Shardlow, briefly goes into Leicestershire then back into Sawley and ends at the edge of Long Eaton.

At 4:10 you will notice that there is a speed camera pointing towards me. As you drive past it you will see that the road has the markings on it. Why is the camera pointing in the opposite direction to the road marks?
The marks are normally used as speed markers so that the two photographs that a speed camera takes can be used to prove the speed of travel.
I'm sure someone out there will be able to explain why the marks are NOT in the view of the speedcamera lens.

thanks
Andy
