The Last Post Ale House, 1 Uttoxeter Old Road, opens Friday 19th September at 6pm Derby's second Micropub.

The Last Post Ale House is located at 1 Uttoxeter Old Road, Derby and opens at 6pm on Friday 19th September 2014.

Update 20th September :
Having been along to the opening night I can really recommend this ale house, I've never been in a micropub before. I was the first customer so got to photograph the very first pint being pulled.
The atmosphere is "intimate" and friendly, great bar staff and handy for town. I wish them great success with this ale house, I'm fairly sure its going to be very successful where its located due to the amount of footfall.

My opening night photos from The Last Post Ale House, Derby :
The very first ever pint pulled at the Last Post Ale House

Half an hour after opening on the first night.

Almost 2 hours after opening on first night.

The licensing hours are 11am to 11pm
The property was originally a post office so in recognition of this the pub is called the Last Post.

If your wondering where exactly that is, here is a photograph I took three days before the ale house opens. You can see The Mile pub on Friar Gate, around the corner from that on Uttoxeter Old Road you will find the Last Post Ale House.

My photograph showing the location of the Last Post Ale House, Derby, Derbyshire.

Following from the success of the Little Chester Ale House George & Walter from Wentwell Brewery are opening this second micro pub in Derby. This new micro pub is slightly smaller than The Little Chester Ale House with a capacity of about 24 persons but the cellar is a lot bigger which will enable them to have 5 hand pumps on the bar.

Here is a view inside the Ale House three days before its opening :

O2 Data speed slow in Derby City Centre at the moment due to mast on Osmaston Road.

If you are on o2 and live in Derby City Centre then you may have noticed that your Data connection to the internet has been appalling over the last few days.
This is due to engineers working on the tempoary o2 Mast that is in the car park on Osmaston Road near the old DRI.

Here is a photograph of the o2 mast that they are working on, its located in the car park of the old DRI.

Here is a map showing the o2 mast location.

Here is what your iPhone data indication looks like when you have lost 3G and its dropped down to a really poor GPRS connection :

o2 Sent me a text message on Monday "o2: Just to say, there's work planned around DE1 2QY over the next few days. it may affect your signal, but once it's done you'll have a faster smarter, stronger network, see more "http://s.o2.co.uk/Status/ByWHae"
But that link does not show any planned maintenance.
They also sent me this exact same message on 5th September with a different web address.

Here is the o2 Network Status checker : http://status.o2.co.uk/

On an iPhone it tells you your data connection method in the top/left of the screen. If you are on a wifi connection this this will hide the indicator.
The data connection method normally shows either "4G" "3G" "E" "o" or nothing.
3G vanished a few days ago and I can only get GPRS now (indicated by the o), this is extremely slow when you are used to 3G. Also at times its showing "Searching....." or "No Service".

You may find that while you are surfing you suddenly get this message "Safari cannot open the page because your iPhone is not connected to the Internet".

Hopefully this o2 mast will soon be up and working again soon as its very annoying when I'm paying for a service and getting a very poor connection like this.
Hope you found this information of use.

thanks
Andy

Paul Young has performed charity gigs at this pub a few times over the years.

A video from their 2012 gig at the Swan Inn, Milton.
Paul Young in the band Los Pacaminos performing at the charity gig at the Swan Inn Pub, in Milton, Derbyshire. In this video they can be seen playing the Tequila song, they played this three times during their gig. Its a silly song that involves a lady from the audience going up on stage to hand out shots of tequila to the band members.

Hope you found this of interest.
