Video of the Olympic Torch Relay in Derby on Friday 29th June 2012. Day 42.

This was a very important day for Derby as the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay came to our city.
I have tried to capture the feel of the day, I have never seen so many people come out to support something like this before. All the streets along the route were crowded with onlookers.
Were you there? What did you think to this event?
Did you spot yourself in my video?, if so please leave a comment.

Derby is just one of many places the relay is passing through, to see where its been and where its going next see the "Olympic Torch Relay route" page :

I only managed to capture some of the olympic torch bearers, there were so many people on the streets that I could not get through.
The last point I saw it was from the Corn Market, it was so busy there that I could not get through.
I did try and then run all the way to King Street from the Corn Market but did not manage to get there in time.

The Torch went onto Darley Park for the evening celebration where Double world Superbike champion James Toseland lit the Olympic cauldron.
The celebration, was broadcast live on BBC1, and included performances by urban pop star Loick Essien and Britain's Got Talent 2010 runners-up Twist and Pulse.

What a great event to come to Derby!
