Lefty-loosey righty-tighty is a well known mnemonic (memory aid) for remembering which way to turn a spanner for tightening or loosening bolts etc. Clockwise tightens, Counter-clockwise loosens until NOW !
Apart from a gas cylinder valve I have never seen anything that does not obey the Lefty-loosey righty-tighty rule. Have you?
The reason this item is the opposite to normal is because its a fan that spins clockwise so it the big cap on the end was screwed on clockwise then it would unscrew its self when the fan was spun up and the fan blade would fall off !
