On Saturday 18th August 2012 the Flashback to the 80s Concert will take place at Clumber Park.

If you love music from the 1980's and live in the East Midlands then this is THE festival for you.

Lets hope the weather is not too bad for this as this is an outdoor event!
Looking at this stage the weather is looked very good, see weather for Chesterfield (the nearest place to the gig) - Weather for the 80's flashback festival.

If you do go to this I suggest you make your chairs stand out from the crowd as the main problem is finding where you are sat if you go to the toilet as there are so many people here.
There are food stalls around the venue but you can also take in food and a picknik.

Video of a Time-lapse car journey from Derby to the Clumber Park 80's Flashback Festival in August 2011.

Two weeks ago on Saturday 20th August I went to the 80's Flashback Festival at Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire. This video is a time-lapse car drive from Derby to Clumber Park and includes a few seconds of the groups as well as the amazing Firework display at the end.

The main acts this year were Toyah Willcox, Nik Kershaw, Heaven 17, Level 42 and The Human League. The show finished with an amzing firework display which you can see at the end of my driving video.

The first band came on stage about 5pm that was Wham Duran (a tribute band) and the Headline Act The League did not finish their set until 11pm !

I have recorded this at 1080p so if you have a very fast PC and superfast Internet connection then set to 1080p Full Screen for the best view of it.

It was recorded on Saturday 20th August 2011.

All the groups did a great show, I liked The Heaven 17 tracks best of all. They did an amzing long version of Temptation which you can see in this video - Heaven 17 Temptation at Clumber Park 2011.

Heaven 17 to play Buxton Opera House 27 February.

Are you in your 40s, if so I'm sure you will remember the 80's band Heaven 17 who had lots of hits such as Temptation, come live with me and Let me go. Well here is a chance to see them again in a couple of weeks at Buxton Opera house in Derbyshire.

Penthouse & Pavement, with its singles We Don’t Need This Fascist Groove Thang and Play To WinThe Luxury Gap, featuring the hit singles Temptation, Come Live With Me, Crushed by the Wheels of Industry and Let Me Go and further success followed with tracks including This Is Mine and Sunset Now. was followed by the hugely successful Now, with core line-up of Martyn Ware and Glenn Gregory augmented by the soaring backing vocals of Billie Godfrey, Heaven 17 are able finally to recreate the studio-based sounds of their albums on the live stage.

Plus support act Go Go Bot.

Also I'm sure you have probably seen them in a recent TV advert for plusnet.
Its says on the ticket "plus support" I wonder who thats going to be?

I got my tickets a couple of weeks ago so if you want to go you need to ring up today and get yours. It only cost  65p to get the tickets posted out and no debit card fee to pay ! So nice to be able to get the tickets cheap unlike those ticketmaster ones where they charge silly admin fees etc.

If you are interested in a bit of history about this pub then read on...
This pub has had many different names over the years. The building dates from 1848 and was called The George and Dragon, In 1872 it was renamed the Kings Head. In 1878 it was renamed The Central. In 1939 it was renamed back to The George and Dragon (Click here to see) and incorporated the building next door (as you can clearly see by looking at the Metro Bar today). In 1989 it closed and looked like it was going to be demolished for shops but ended up reopening as The Central Vaults in 1992. In 1997 it was renamed The Tap House, since 2002 it has become The Metro Bar.

P.S. They have now also started a dedicated 80s night at another Derby pub, This one is at The Slug and Lettuce pub on Irongate and takes place on the LAST Saturday of the month with 80s music played from 9pm-2am !
So the next 80s night is on Saturday 27th February 2010.
